Prof. Anil K. Bera, the co-inventor of the famous ‘Jarque–Bera’ Statistical Test, visits the Praxis campus to deliver an interactive session

Praxis Kolkata campus was graced by the presence of Prof. Anil K. Bera, Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics, University of Illinois (Urbana–Champaign); and the co-inventor of the famous ‘Jarque–Bera’ Statistical Test, on 17 August 2022. He visited the campus to deliver an interactive session on “Clustering is the Key to Almost Everything Since the Big Bang” for the students of Praxis Business School.

Prof. Bera emphasized how clustering is fundamental to almost every aspect of our existence and is present everywhere around us. He illustrated this by giving the example of the time all matter was condensed into a dense cluster before the Big Bang, and also that the galaxies are clusters of matter separated in space. Human beings came together as clusters to form society.

Even people create clusters by befriending others similar to them. Praxis PGDM and PGPDS students took an active part in the discussion and gained valuable insights from his interactive session. He ended the session by mentioning that the implications and applications of clustering can help understand many important aspects of life.
