Independent editor, translator and researcher, specializing in theatre history and history of film music; presently translating and editing an anthology of critical texts in Bengali theatre from the 1820s to the present; and translating a selection of Bengali plays from the 1960s-70s written as a response to / protest against the political situation of the time. Has presented more than twenty five papers at university seminars and refresher courses, culture courses; designed film appreciation courses for film societies in Santiniketan and Jamshedpur. Has held editorial positions in Macmillan India, Seagull Books and Pratikshan, editing titles on social sciences, anthropology, history of radical movements, visual arts, Indian plays in translation, film, culture, musicological research and developing ELT modules. Offers specialized English speaking, reading and writing proficiency courses for learners of English as a second language, with custom-developed audio-visual aids and worksheets.
