At the end of the first year, all students are required to undertake a
project in an organization as an integral part of the curriculum. Students work on live
assignments for various organizations, which gives the students an opportunity to sharpen
their knowledge and skills, develop better appreciation of the practical problems of
business organizations in general and the management in particular. The summer projects
help the students plan their professional career in the light of practical experience
gained during the eight to ten week period.
The quality of the 2008 summer placements at Praxis
provides compelling evidence of corporate India's faith in the
'Praxis-way.' This was the first time Praxis approached the industry
with its story of an earnest attempt to create 'industry-ready'
professionals and the industry responded in an overwhelming fashion.
In its very first year, Praxis students won for themselves 3 overseas
assignments in the USA and Thailand; others landed plum projects in
leading organizations. The internships carried stipends. The feedback
on the performance of the students has been very encouraging - this is
an endorsement of the validity of the academic program at Praxis and
should help us establish long-term relationships for mutual benefit
with these organizations.
Praxis will place its first batch of students in
the industry in 2009. The relationships forged with corporate India
and with global firms would play a pivotal role in ensuring quality
placements in all the primary functional areas of business. The
success of the summer internship program will have its positive
fallouts in terms of PPOs and PPIs and increased interest on the part
of the industry to assess and select Praxis students for promising
careers ahead.
