‘Praxis’ is the combination of the art and science of theoretical learning with the virtues of practical training. This guiding philosophy has helped Praxis develop into a contemporary, industry-facing Business School that has earned Corporate India’s faith.
I believe that the two aspects of an educational institution that strengthen its alliance with the industry are: One, its agility to respond to the changing requirements of the industry. Two, its ability to develop the resource-base that can deliver in a dynamic and complex business environment.
It gives me pleasure to share with you that ICICI Bank endowed the Dean’s Chair at Praxis Business School with the purpose of promoting ‘Banking and Financial Services’ earlier this year. Praxis reached another milestone when it pioneered an industry supported program in Business Analytics along with its knowledge partners, PwC and ICICI Bank. This program was launched to respond to the growing demand of Analytics in the business world.
I believe that as an academic institute, Praxis has devoted considerable energy in creating robust pillars for developing the resource-base that can make significant contribution in the industry day-one. In my opinion, an academic institute is defined by the quality of its faculty and the academic ecosystem they can create.
The Praxis faculty has members who have trained themselves at the best Indian and global institutes (the IITs, IIMs, XLRI. Universities of Dallas and Iowa) before being at the highest decision making levels at corporates such as IBM, HP, PwC, J P Morgan, MAA Bozell, Tata Steel, CTS, Spencer’s. Faculty members play an active role in mentoring students as well as designing co-curricular activities. This has ensured that learning does not stop in the classroom – but is enhanced outside it.
The ecosystem at Praxis is based on the principles of honesty, transparency and teamwork. This manifests itself in all our processes – from the data given in the website, as well as all external and internal communication. A wireless campus with the latest software tools ensures a seamless transition for the students to IT enabled environments of today’s industry. It also enables faculty members to structure their curriculum in order to inculcate in students a very important trait for today’s generation of managers – data discipline. A picturesque, eco-friendly, residential campus ensures that students have space for themselves. Space to interact with their batchmates and carry with them something which is perhaps more important than a mere academic qualification – a life time camaraderie with peers. And their Alma Mater.
