The faculty team at Praxis consists of core full-time
faculty as well as visiting faculty from XLRI, Jamshedpur. In addition, there
is a
significant participation of the industry in the form of guest lectures. The
choice of the faculty members includes a blend of industry and academics thus reflecting the philosophy
of Praxis.
Srinivas Govindrajan
B.Com (Utkal), PGDM (IIM Ahmedabad)
Marketing
Has worked with the Xavier Institute of Management,
Bhubaneswar from 1989
to 2005 and was Director, IBAT School of Management from 2005 to 2006 before joining Praxis
Business School as Dean. He has been closely associated with the
placement of XIM and has coordinated with several external agencies,
government institutions and other donors and funding agencies during his
tenure. His team's work on innovative methods of revenue collection
mechanisms in rural areas has been incorporated in the Electricity Act, 2003
and has been appreciated by leading development banks, including the World Bank. He has worked in the industry for six years and this includes stints at
PricewaterhouseCoopers and MAA Bozell. He has been a visiting faculty at
XLRI, Jamshedpur since 1995 and is currently an Adjunct Faculty at XLRI
in addition to being Dean at Praxis. His teaching interests include
brand management and sales & distribution management. His classes
create an atmosphere that encourages energetic discussion and
debate.
Charanpreet Singh

Information Technology and Strategic Management
Has been a part of the corporate world for 20 years and has a rich
experience in industries as varied as Cryogenics, Steel, International Trade, Consulting
and IT with organizations such as British Oxygen, Tata Steel, PwC and Compaq-HP. At HP he was
Country Manager, Marketing for SMB when he decided to switch to his
first passion, academics, and embarked on a mission to set up a Business
School of the highest quality in the country. A winner of the Chevening
Scholarship for Young Managers awarded by the British Government, he has
strong professional interests in the areas of information technology and
business communication. He has taught at the Business School at the University
of Iowa and has been a visiting faculty at some of the prominent management institutes in
the country. He brings with him a good blend of real-world industry experience and
academic insight and, while his courses are rooted in academic theory and
fundamentals, they never let the student lose sight of the real business
value of each concept.
Dr. Prithwis Mukerjee
B.Tech (IIT Kharagpur), M.S., Ph.D. (University of Texas at Dallas)
Head - Research; Information Technology
Has a rich experience of 18
years in the Consulting and Software business. Has worked in Tata
Steel, Tata Information Systems Limited, PricewaterhouseCoopers where
he became a Partner and
subsequently became head of the IBM Global Delivery Centre in
Calcutta when the consulting division of PwC was acquired by IBM
globally. He has published three papers in refereed
international journals as well as a book that interprets Vedanta in
terms of genetics and computer programming. His areas of interest are
Classical Systems Engineering as well as the emerging paradigms of Web
2.0. He has his own website at http://www.yantrajaal.com
and through his avatar Calcutta Cyclone maintains a presence in the
virtual world of Second Life, a domain in which he is widely
recognized as a thought-leader. He retains his links with his alma
mater as a visiting professor at the Vinod Gupta School of Management
at IIT, Kharagpur.
Anindra Kumar Haldar
B.Tech (IIT Kharagpur), PGDM (IIM Calcutta)
Marketing
Has 19 years of rich experience in industry, civil
services and academics. He has worked in the chemical and pharmaceutical
industries in international marketing. He served in The Indian Railways
as an officer in the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) managing the
safety aspects of an entire division. He has been teaching for the last
11 years and has introduced new programs and set up new institutes.
Prior to joining Praxis he was Head, Department of Management Studies,
NIT, Durgapur. He is pursuing a PhD in the area of service
quality for the postal services of India Post. He has published research
papers in peer-reviewed international journals and presented papers at
international conferences. He has conducted MDPs and in-company
training programs for leading companies. His area of interest is marketing and he
delivers courses in marketing management, marketing research, consumer
behaviour, business-to-business marketing among others.
Malabika Chatterjee
BA (Hons), PGDPM & IR (XLRI Jamshedpur)
OB, HRM & Business Communication
Has over 20 years of rich and varied industry experience in leadership
roles in HR in banking, consumer products and software industry in Kolkata. Her last corporate
assignment was as the Head HR, Kolkata Operations of Cognizant
Technology Solutions. She has been teaching in various MBA institutes
and offering consulting and training services to leading corporates. She has presented papers at corporate seminars organized
by The Institute of International Research, UK, on Retention Practices
in the Telecom Industry and on Measuring Emotional Intelligence at the
workplace. She has enjoyed significant success in setting up
organizations in the software services domain - developing and
operationalizing HR strategies including shared values/culture,
behavior, structure, systems, competencies/skills, policies and processes. She enjoys teaching,
interacting with and counseling young people.
Ajay Majumdar
B.E(Mech), PGDIE (NITIE Mumbai)
Production and HRM
Has been a part of the corporate world for 30 years working with reputed
organizations like Tata Motors, Hindustan Motors, Bata India and ABP
Group in various functional areas like general management, human
resource management and productivity services. He was the HR Head of
ABP Group and has been an independent consultant in the same area
providing HR support to various private and public sector
undertakings. He has been a visiting faculty at various esteemed
B-schools including XLRI, Jamshedpur. His areas of interest include
productivity studies, operations management, recruitment and
selection, training and development, performance management,
leadership development and team building. He has participated in the
turnaround strategy initiatives of and worked as a team member with
McKinsey & Co to facilitate change management programs for
corporate sectors.
Amit Parakh
B.Com (Hons.), ACA, CS, PGDM (IIM Ahmedabad)
Finance
Has worked extensively in the banking and equity research areas
before entering academics. He has been manager with Structured Products Group, ICICI Bank,
where he played a key role in carrying out valuation assignments, building credit rating
models and structuring transactions. In the credit research space, his
sector specialization was infrastructure and FMCG. He has also been an equity research analyst with JP
Morgan where he was involved in building valuation models and financial analysis of Indian IT Services
companies. He specializes in the financial sector, takes active interest
in capital markets and specifically, likes to get involved in valuation
assignments. Amit is seeking charter from the CFA Institute, USA, having
cleared the CFA program. He conducts workshops on corporate
finance, asset valuation and financial analysis.
Dr. Manaswee Kumar Samal
M.Com, F.C.A., DISA(ICA), Ph.D.(UU)
Finance
Has been a full-time
faculty at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar from 2000 to 2003
and is a visiting faculty there now. He is a fellow member of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. His doctoral research is on
Corporate Accounting & Disclosure Practices. He has rendered
consulting to Government of Orissa on infrastructure projects and state
PSU restructuring, to POSCO-India on port project and to many national
and international donor agencies on developmental projects. He has
conducted MDPs for middle and senior level executives of leading organisations. At present, he is Director, Centurion School
of Rural Enterprise Management (CSREM), Orissa. As a trustee, he is
involved in setting up a B-school named ORETUS. He has been training commercial tax officers of CTD, Govt. of Orissa,
on VAT Audit skills. He is also involved in
designing and executing a training programme under CSR of Vedanta.
